The Annual National Awards for construction Excellence symbolizes its commitment to promote quality and professionalism in the construction industry in Sri Lanka.

In addition to the Construction Excellence Awards presented to Building projects (which has now become a hall’mark in the construction industry), ICTAD presents “National Awards for Construction Performance’ for Civil Engineering Projects; Roads, Bridges, Water Supply and Sewerage , since 2005

Also ICTAD presents awards for the use of Innovative Technology / Techniques in constructions.   Use of Innovative Technology / Techniques in arriving at cost & time savings, quality and utilization of resources are considered in presenting this award.

In 2011 ICTAD launched a recognition scheme for eminent professionals in 04 basic fields namely Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying and Construction Industry in General. This goes as "Award for Eminent Professionals in the Construction Industry" and are awarded once in every three years.

In 2012 ICTAD extended the "Awards for Construction Performance" for "Building Projects". Applications are received from completed Building projects and subsequently comments are obtained from end users and consultants for further verification before applying the general criterion of selection of performance awards.
Also in 2012 an award segment has been launched for "Selected Community Projects" in order to recognize community involvement in execution of all sorts of construction projects spread throughout the country.

Yet another feature of 2012 new schemes is the "National Green Construction Awards" which is a joint product of ICTAD and Green Building Council of Sri Lanka. In this scheme several key elements of built environment such as Sustainable Site, Energy Efficiency, Indoor Environmental Quality and Waste Management are considered and degree of sustainability is evaluated.

Other annual awards presented presently are performance awards for the building projects and performance awards to selectedcommunity projects.

I  Excellence & Merit awards for Building projects 
Projects involved in the building construction are considered for the Construction Excellence & Merit awards. Other multi disciplinary projects are considered for the competition only if a reasonable portion of the project involves new construction of buildings. Improvements and renovations for buildings are not considered for the competition.

Submission of Application
Applications are received throughout the year, for building projects.  Contractor should submit the application for a particular building project at the inception of the project.  

II Construction Performance Awards for Civil Engineering Projects
Completed civil engineering projects Highway, Bridges, Water Supply & Drainage, Irrigation & Land Drainage etc. are considered under this scheme.

 Applications are invited annually through news papers for the Performance Award Competition for Civil Engineering projects and for other awards.  Projects completed and handed over are considered for this scheme

III Green Construction Excellence Award
Green Building Council of Sri Lanka jointly with Institute for Construction Training and Development (ICTAD) presents Green Construction Excellence awards. Projects assessed by a special panel giving due consideration to  many key points such as water & energy efficiency, sustainability, indoor environmental quality, Waste management and many more aspects, finally selected projects for the award .  Applications are invited annually through news papers similar to  the Performance Award Competition.   Projects completed and handed over are considered for this scheme.

IV National Awards to selected community projects
Completed projects in buildings, civil engineering or other infrastructure disciplines developed with appreciable involvement with the community are considered under this scheme. 
Applications for awards are invited annually through news papers published along with other Performance Award categories.

V National Awards for Innovative Technology
Techniques used in completed Construction Projects in buildings, civil engineering or other infrastructure disciplines are considered under this scheme. 
Applications for awards are invited annually through news papers published along with other Performance Award categories. Use of Innovative Technology / Techniques in arriving at cost & time savings, quality and utilization of resources are considered in presenting this award.

IICTAD Award of eminence is presented to professionals who have made an outstanding contribution and dedication to the Construction Industry in different sectors, namely Engineering , Architecture, Quantity Surveying and Construction Industry in general.

This Award is presented to reward and recognize individuals who have made excellent contribution & commitment to construction sector and knowledge sharing with other practicing professionals and new entrants to the industry.

Nominations are invited from institutions and individuals once in every 3 years and the selections are done by an exclusive panel representing professional bodies; such as Sri Lanka Institute of Architects, Institute of Engineers & Sri Lanka and Institute of Quantity Surveyors Sri Lanka etc.
